Brown Sugar Sour Cream Softies

INGREDIENTS:
1 c. butter
2 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. sour cream

DIRECTIONS:
Cream butter, sugar, egg and vanilla. Add dry ingredients and sour cream. Mix well. Chill 1 hour. Sprinkle sugar before baking. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes.

Brown Sugar Shortcake

INGREDIENTS:
2 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. sugar
6 tbsp. brown sugar
1/3 c. shortening
1 egg
1/2 c. milk

DIRECTIONS:
Into flour cut in shortening (as for pie crust). To egg slightly beaten add milk and blend with flour mixture. Divide dough in half. Roll out half. Place in buttered pan, butter with softened butter.
Sprinkle on 3 tablespoon brown sugar. Roll out top half, butter and sprinkle with 3 tablespoons brown sugar. Bake at 425 degrees for 15 to 18 minutes. Separate layers and put filling between. Excellent with strawberries.

Brown Sugar Shortbread

INGREDIENTS:
1 stick (4 oz.) unsalted butter, softened
1/3 c. (packed) light brown sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Butter an 8-inch round cake pan. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the butter, brown sugar, and vanilla. Beat with an electric mixer until fluffy. Gradually add the flour, 1/4 cup at a time. When the dough becomes too stiff to beat, mix by hand.
Transfer to the cake pan. Press flat and prick the surface all over with a fork. Bake for about 50 minutes, until lightly browned. Remove to a wire rack to cool. Cut into 8 wedges and serve.

Brown Sugar Shortbread

INGREDIENTS:
1 c. soft butter
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
2 c. sifted flour
Assorted cookie cutters and sugars

DIRECTIONS:
Mix butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Stir in flour until smooth. The dough will be stiff. Refrigerate dough, covered, for several hours. It gets hard. Roll dough on floured board 1/3 inch thick. Cut with cookie cutter. Bake on ungreased cookie sheets of 300 degree oven for 25 minutes. Remove and let cool on racks. Put sugars on before baking.

Brown Sugar Sauce

INGREDIENTS:
1 c. brown sugar
2 tbsp. cornstarch
Pinch of salt
2 c. boiling water
4 tbsp. butter

DIRECTIONS:
Mix sugar and cornstarch, add water gradually. Boil 2-3 minutes. Remove from fire, add butter. Yield 2 cups of sauce.

INGREDIENTS:
1 c. brown sugar
1 tbsp. cornstarch
4 tbsp. butter
Salt
1 1/2 c. hot water
1 tsp. vanilla

DIRECTIONS:
Combine the brown sugar, cornstarch, butter and a dash of salt with hot water in a saucepan and cook over medium heat until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and cool before adding vanilla. Makes 6 to 8 servings.

Brown Sugar Rolls

INGREDIENTS:
1 pkg. brown & serve rolls
Melted butter
Brown sugar

DIRECTIONS:
Dip each roll into melted butter, then into brown sugar. Place on cookie sheet. Bake according to package directions. Serves 6.

Brown Sugar Squares

INGREDIENTS:
1 egg, beaten
1 c. brown sugar, packed
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped walnuts

DIRECTIONS:
Mix egg, sugar and vanilla together. Stir in flour, soda and salt. Add walnuts. Spread in greased 8 inch square pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes (should be soft in center when done). Leave in pan, cut into 2 inch squares.

Brown Sugar Squares

INGREDIENTS:
1 c. butter, softened to room temperature
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg yolk
2 tsp. vanilla
1 7/8 c. all-purpose flour
6 milk chocolate bars (1.65 oz. each)
1 c. chopped nuts

DIRECTIONS:
In mixing bowl cream together butter and brown sugar until light colored and fluffy. Add egg yolk and vanilla; gradually beat in flour until smooth and blended. spread evenly on ungreased 10×14×1-inch pan. Dough will be thick, so spread it evenly. If you use a smaller pan you will have to adjust your baking time.
Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and immediately arrange the chocolate bars evenly over surface of crust. Let stand 5 minutes to soften and then spread evenly. Sprinkle with chopped nuts (I use walnuts but I’m sure other variety will do just as well). Cook thoroughly and cut into squares.

1 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
2 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. nucoa
2 eggs
1 c. nuts

DIRECTIONS:
Melt butter, add sugar, eggs, flour, etc. to stiff batter. Bake at 350 degrees about 20 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar. Cut into small squares.
